"View With A Dog"

I did this acrylic painting from a photo I took while walking Lilly. It is a view of Indian Hill Road looking towards Mount Rubidoux. I loved the way the late afternoon light was coming through the trees and making the wonderful shadows across the roadway. A little further down the road I got a photo of Lilly looking towards the sun and so I decided to incorporate her into the view.

"Missing Adam/Remembering Adam"

This is my latest watercolor painting. This diptych chronicles the life of Adam as I see it present day. In Missing Adam we have the 21st Century Adam where the landscape is harsh and decimated by industrialization, wars and global insensitivity. In Remembering Adam we have a land of paradise with abundant animals, fish and a pure unaffected environment. Sad to see what we have done to our planet BUT all is not lost as there is yet a glimmer of hope to cling to...

"Pala Fountain"

In the San Antonio de Pala Asistencia inner courtyard you will find this lovely fountain surrounded by the 3 palms. This sub-mission was connected to San Luis Rey do Francia and was a days ride away. It was established in 1816.

"To The Nines"

Several years ago we attended the Gay Pride Parade in Palm Springs. As the procession of dogs and their owners walked past I took this photo. At the time I thought it would make a nice painting. I didn't realize it would take me a couple years to finally paint it! This is a transparent watercolor on paper.

"Floating Swine"

This acrylic painting on canvas is in response to a theme show here in Riverside at Division 9 Gallery. The theme is "When Swine Flu" and the only requirement was that you have the image of a pig in your artwork. I decided to combine my design with my continuing exploration of my own "Floating Series".

"Lavender Lilly"

In May and June the Jacaranda trees become lavender delights and as the blossoms begin to fall the ground becomes a carpet of purple. Lilly was out inspecting the backyard when Michael snapped a few photos of her in action. This profile view of Lilly from the back with the bamboo reminded me of a Japanese print in its simplicity of design.

"Jacaranda Blossom Carpet"

In May and June the Jacaranda trees become lavender delights and as the blossoms begin to fall the ground becomes a carpet of purple. Lilly was out inspecting the backyard when Michael snapped a few photos of her in action. I love this 3/4 rear view of our stocky French Bulldog contrasting with the purple. It simply cried out to become a watercolor painting.

The original bell tower fell during an earthquake in 1812, the padres replaced it with the present and distinctive companario, or bell wall, at the opposite end of the building.

"Monterey County Courthouse"

I just completed this transparent watercolor of the Monterey County Courthouse. I was working from a photo that was taken while we were visiting family in Salinas, California. Once again the light and shadows drew me into this photo and the extreme perspective added that extra something that demanded I take it beyond the photo and into the world of watercolor.
